Today's Daily Intake

  • cup of organic nettle tea with a few drops of organic liquid stevia
  • double shot of wheatgrass, followed by non-dairy Booster Juice strawberry smoothie with Wilderness booster. (16 oz) - (felt rather nauseous from the wheatgrass. usually happens when i take it on an empty stomach; also, i don't usually have double shots, just singles.) oh, the smoothie was so good. I could've easily had a second one. should have, in retrospect. they're just not *green* enough for me, though. ha ha ha ha ha they're so.... fruity.
  • a raspberry muffin and small hot chocolate at tim horton's. okay, not raw, not organic, not vegan, but wth do they have on the menu that is? herbal tea, granted. could've made a better choice there. but it was quite soon after the wheatgrass and smoothie and i was feeling slightly nauseous and just wanted to eat something to make it go away. LOL (recognizing the irony at taking wheatgrass for the benefits of detoxing, only to follow it with crap food. trust me, you don't have to remind me)
  • (non-organic) fresh raw veggies (crudites, LOL) and an organic Synergy-brand cranberry kombucha, which always makes me burp. :P
  • an organic banana
  • water
  • Vege-DHA x 2
  • a small bowl of organic brazil nut milk-chia pudding. mmmmm yummy even though my sister had said it looked like a bowl of little eyeballs. i don't care. it was delicious. :P
I don't usually eat out like that: booster juice followed by tim hortons followed by grocery store veggie trays, but we were out from 10 a.m. 'til almost 7 p.m. and that's a long time to go without nourishing one's body, and I didn't make 2L of smoothie at home this morning, which would've been perfectly satisfying to get me through 'til the veggie tray part. When you're on the run and want to stay raw and organic, it can be kinda challenging in a non-organic mainstream world, so we make the best choices we can in each moment. the tim's, well, that's just kinda the place where my parents always choose to meet us. why, i don't know. it just is. i could suggest booster juice next time, but i know the kids & i will be the only excited ones. my family (parents, sister, etc) don't do smoothies. kinda like suggesting we go to Cafe Bliss or Rebar or Green Cuisine (all vegan friendly places) for a meal. i get turned-up noses in response to the suggestion, even if it's my birthday.

Truly, ya know, i kinda wish... my one wish (in this moment, LMAO)... would be to be surrounded by my family who had gone all raw, all organic, all vegan... Then I wouldn't be trying to juggle making 3 different entrees at meals for each dietary choice... I would have the support from where I'd love to have it most. It's one thing to go to a monthly raw potluck and find kindred spirits there; it's another to have that kinda support in your own home, from those you love and care deeply about. If only dh would learn to make me a green smoothie, or embrace the raw cookbooks. He loves to prepare food; he'd have a heyday preparing some of the raw entrees in those books, and I'd be ever-so-grateful to have a special meal prepared for me with Love. Is that too much to ask???

Honestly my hats off to you for being ABLE to live in a world that does NOT support your food choices, and living in a family where each of you all have your own dietary interests and needs. Seriously amazing that you can balance sooooo much. And I mean that. I don't honestly know how you are able to remain committed to every thing you do and believe in when it must be such an uphill battle daily. Thats extremely commendable. All I can do is eat my way through life =P butter, eggs and all... LOL
